Yes, You Can- Using the Power of the Mind to Create

What’s preventing you from having what you really want in this life? Are you fully living?

Did you help build the wall limiting your goals and the ceiling containing your big dreams?

As a child, the sensation that anything can be accomplished is extremely palpable. But as we grow and move through this world the constructs of society and expectations of culture and projections of family/ friends can begin to reshape our desires and steer us away from our most awe-inspiring dreams.

Until we check in with ourselves we may never know where our resistance is rooted- and no matter how many beautiful intentions we set, the flowers in our future garden will be overrun with the same weeds and our efforts will remain futile. Because of this pattern, some of us stop dreaming completely. With Awareness, you can change your brain and set yourself up to receive everything you desire.

Try the simple exercise below to increase the power of the mind to manifest more of what you want.

Find a comfortable seat and close your eyes softly. Allow your attention to follow the breath naturally. Notice where and how it is moving in your body- what are its qualities in this moment?

Now, for 10 minutes (you may want to set a timer), with a notebook and pencil begin to freely write out ideas that excite you- things you’d love to create or build, projects you’d like to initiate, places you want to travel, etc.

Write quickly, as quickly as the thoughts come- try not to stay on one thing too long. The key is to be Free with it and just note what passes through your imagination- trying not to judge any of the ideas. Simply jot them down and move to the next.

Does the process move faster as you go along, do more or bigger ideas come to light? Take note of which ideas excite you the most.

Now close the notebook and close your eyes softly, once again attending to just the breath. Do you notice any changes in the breath and how the breath is filling the body?

As the day progresses, continue to be conscious of any information that reveals itself to you. Sometimes this can be in the form of “Well, I was never good at that”, or “They wouldn’t approve”, or “I don’t have enough ____ (fill in the blank)”.

The moment it comes up is the time to transform it. When you see the blocks presenting themselves, bring your mind-state back to that of a child. Think back to when you were 5 or 7 years old, or whatever age you felt your dreams were surely invincible. Then really Revel in that dream of yours- Delight in imagining yourself Already attaining it.

How does it feel? Keep it fresh like this, revisiting it and letting the mind ‘live in’ those future moments of accomplishment and gratitude.

Now you are actively rebuilding the neural pathways that are required for your dream to become reality.
